7-30 p.m. Body of Sound - Sheffield Women's Singing Group - meets in the Lower Hall.
Body of Sound is a women's singing group from Sheffield, led by Helen Lyle. In a friendly, supportive and inclusive environment, we learn to use our voices and to espress ourselves through song, regardless of previous singing experience. We want to see our confidence and enjoyment grow, and to blen our voices as well as possible. Above all, we want to experience the joy and liberation that come from being together and making music, and to find the space and freedom to lark around and have fun. Our repertoire includes both contemporary and traditional material; from Southern Africa, from the African-American and Shape-note traditions, as well as songs form the British Isles and Europe. We perform in support of causes both local and international, such as ASSIST, Palestine Solidarity and Harare women's music academy.
